Kanye West Changes Name to Ye Ye

In the past, West—who shares kids North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm , 6, with ex Kim Kardashian—said he was drawn to the word “ye” for a name because it’s “the most commonly used word in the Bible.”

“In the Bible, it means ‘you,'” he explained in a 2018 interview with radio host Big Boy. “So, I’m you, I’m us, it’s us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye—just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confusion, everything.”

At the time, West also named his eighth studio album Ye, explaining that it was “more of a reflection of who we are.”

“I wanted something that felt with the energy,” he continued. “Just with the universe was giving me, I wanted to matched that energy.”
